Chianyu Liu

Chianyu Liu has worked as a Data Scientist at Aerial Technologies since 2018, where they have contributed to creating "smart" indoor environments with a focus on device-free passive indoor localization using information extracted from the PHY layer of wireless links. Their research work emphasizes on novel digital signal processing and feature engineering techniques to reduce data inconsistencies caused by the complexity of signal propagation and human behaviors. Chianyu has also designed, developed, and tested a real-time proximity sensing and room-level occupancy detection system based on classical machine learning algorithms and deep neural networks. Additionally, they have led the development of Patent ID WO2020170221. Prior to this, Chianyu Liu was a Graduate Research Assistant at the Centre universitaire de santé McGill | McGill University Health Centre from 2017.

Chianyu Liu attended Marymount International School Rome from 2008 to 2013 and earned an International Baccalaureate (Bi-Lingual Diploma). Chianyu then attended McGill University from 2013 to 2017, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering. Chianyu continued their studies at McGill University from 2017 to 2019, earning a Master of Science in Computer Science.
