Joel Abramson

With 25 years of experience at AES, Joel joined the leadership team in 2020 as VP, Mergers & Acquisitions. He is responsible for identifying new partners and scale businesses to accelerate the future of energy. Joel has played a leading role in AES’ greener energy transformation by systematically increasing the renewable energy investments and portfolio to best meet the needs of the diverse stakeholder groups.

Joel has served in a diverse set of financial, development and stakeholder management roles at AES, enabling him to lead and originate new functions as the success of his efforts have grown the company. After serving seven years in business development in Asia and the United States, he became AES’ first Director of Project Finance and later founded the Portfolio Management group to accelerate energy transformation on a holistic level. Joel’s time directing the Investor Relations group, serving as Chief Financial Officer, Global Generation, and leading global corporate planning.
