Terry Embury

Terry Embury has an extensive work experience in the energy trading industry. Terry started their career in 1981 as a Reactor Operator Instructor in the US Navy. After leaving the Navy, they joined Arizona Public Service where they worked for over 15 years as a Sr. Trader, managing the unregulated trading portfolio and assets.

In 2006, Embury joined Luminant as a Director, overseeing the valuation, management, and P&L of the structured products and renewables portfolios. Terry also managed the REP trading/flow business and fuel fundamentals groups.

In 2008, Embury joined Integrys Energy Services as a Director of Ercot Trading. During their tenure, they were responsible for all trading activities, risk management, and P&L. Terry also provided market and risk management direction to the ERCOT retail desk.

Embury then joined Macquarie Bank in 2010 as SVP ERCOT Trading, where they launched the Texas wholesale trading desk and conducted various transactions within a short period. Terry also engaged in virtual trading in ERCOT after the nodal launch.

In 2011, Embury joined Direct Energy as the Head of ERCOT Trading, overseeing wholesale, retail, and asset trading activities. Terry developed options strategies to optimize the generation portfolio's value and created an options trading book for the speculative desk.

In 2012, Embury became the Director - Head of Wholesale Analytics at Direct Energy Business, responsible for structured transactions, renewables transactions, and market intelligence across the US and Canada. Terry held this position until June 2021.

Currently, Terry Embury is the Vice President and Head of Trading and Market Operations at AES Clean Energy, where they manage trading and market operations across multiple regions in the US, optimizing portfolios and overseeing renewable energy and battery storage fleets.

Terry Embury obtained an Associate of Science degree in Science from the University of the State of New York. Subsequently, they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Finance at Western International University, completing it in 1996. Terry Embury continued their education at Western International University where they obtained an MBA with a specialization in Finance, graduating in 1998.
