Dr. Tom Schmitt, PhD, is scientific co-founder and associate of clinical research at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. He works on improved T-cell therapies with his team. Dr. Schmitt brings his interest with the delicate and complex activity of TCRs to develop new methods for use in T cell therapy trials.
Dr. Schmitt and his team at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center are applying a high-tech genetic method to sort through T cells from blood donors to identify rare TCR that binds to a specific antigen of interest. In addition, he is developing new methods for the directed evolution of tumor specific TCRs in vitro.
Dr. Schmitt earned his PhD from the University of Toronto.
