Penny Sun

Penny Sun currently works as a Data Analyst at Affirm since June 2023. Prior to this role, Penny served as a Data Scientist at PayPal from October 2019 to May 2023, contributing significantly to the development of a real-time transaction fraud model resulting in substantial fraud loss savings and improvements in catch rates. Accomplishments include building a Python package for fraud detection, streamlining the merchant onboarding process, and overseeing the fraud protection data science team. Previous experience includes a Data Scientist position at Nike, where data-driven insights yielded significant logistics and call center cost savings, and an internship at Opex Analytics, where inventory risk assessment tools were developed. Penny holds a Master’s degree in Analytics from Northwestern University, completed in December 2018.
