Garen Yöndem

Garen Yöndem has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Garen started their career in 2009 as a Software Developer at Netron, where they worked on a web forum project in collaboration with Vodafone Foundation. In 2014, they joined Corvega as a Software Developer and developed various apps for B2B and B2C clients such as LC Waikiki, Turkcell, and Medical Park Hospitals Group.

In 2015, Garen moved to Sociable, Inc. as a Backend Developer and was responsible for building a queuing and real-time matchmaking system for players. Garen also developed a multiplayer Jukebox music trivia song game backend and created a Spotify API crawler to populate a songs database for the game.

In 2017, Garen joined BiTaksi as a Backend Developer and later became a Senior Backend Developer. Garen worked on Core API Backend and Billing web services, addressing system bottlenecks and scaling issues. Garen also improved the dispatch algorithm performance and built a survey system backend with targeted survey functionality for drivers and passengers.

In 2019, Garen co-founded a location-based music start-up and served as the Lead Backend Developer. Garen designed the system architecture and administered the production infrastructure on various platforms such as DigitalOcean, AWS, and Netlify.

Most recently, Garen worked at Afiniti as a Senior Backend Engineer and later as a Lead Backend Engineer. Garen led a multinational team responsible for integrating containerized AI services and workflows. Garen also built a Workflow Scheduler system that converts configuration files into executable directed acyclic graphs and introduced an event-based communication system.

Overall, Garen Yöndem has had a broad range of experience in backend development, system architecture, infrastructure administration, and team leadership.

Garen Yöndem completed their Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Software Engineering at Boğaziçi University in 2015. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree in Computer and Instructional Technologies Education from Yeditepe University in 2014. Additionally, in 2009, they completed a Chinese Language Course at Türk Çin Kültür Derneği.
