Rex Schaeffer

Rex Schaeffer has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Rex started their career as a Tax Manager at PwC in 1985. After that, they worked as a Private Practice Attorney in various law firms until 1994. Following their experience in the legal field, they joined State Farm Insurance and worked in management roles for over two decades, until 2016. In 2016, they established R.L. Schaeffer Consulting, where they offered business management services based on their extensive corporate management and legal background. In 2018, they also worked at Illinois State University, initially as the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations and later as the Director of Strategic Partnerships. Most recently, in 2022, they joined Afni, Inc. as the VP Legal & Chief Compliance Officer.

Rex Schaeffer obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Accounting and Business Administration from Illinois State University in 1979. Rex then pursued a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree in Law from the University of Mississippi between 1981 and 1984. Following that, they attended Washington University in St. Louis from 1984 to 1985 to earn a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in Taxation. In addition to their academic achievements, Rex Schaeffer holds various certifications, including a Certified Public Accountant certification obtained in 1982 from the University of Illinois, and several financial certifications obtained from the American College of Financial Services. Rex is also a registered attorney with the ARDC: Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court of Illinois.
