Andrew S. Chen

Andrew S. Chen is a skilled applied scientist at Afresh, focusing on machine learning to combat food waste in the fresh food supply chain. With a significant contribution to grocery department order recommendations that have reduced food waste for approximately 2% of all produce ordered in the US, Andrew's work is currently patent pending and has been showcased at two INFORMS presentations. Previously, Andrew served as a Senior Applied Scientist and Machine Learning Engineer at Stanford University, where responsibilities included supporting over 100 students in computer science courses. With a solid foundation in quantitative research from internships at notable firms such as Jump Trading LLC and Jane Street, Andrew also has experience in software development and machine learning research through roles at DataVisor, ZByte Software, and the University of New Mexico. Andrew holds a Master of Science in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Science with Honors and Distinction in Mathematics, both from Stanford University.
