Rose Mwebaza

Chief of Natural Resources Management at African Development Bank Group

Rose Mwebaza has extensive work experience in various leadership and advisory roles in the environmental and development sectors. ROSE is currently serving as the Director at the UN Environment Programme since August 2019. Prior to this, they worked as the Chief of Natural Resources Management at the African Development Bank. Rose also has experience working with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), where they held positions such as Programme Management Adviser/Adviser to the Chairperson of the African Union and Regional Policy Adviser (Climate Change) in the Environment and Energy Group. Before joining the UNDP, they served as Senior Legal Adviser - Environmental Security at the Institute for Security Studies. Additionally, Rose has academic experience as a Senior Lecturer and Deputy Dean at Makerere University's School of Law.

Rose Mwebaza holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources Law from Macquarie University. ROSE also has a Bachelor's Degree in Law from Makerere University and a Master's Degree in International Comparative Law from the University of Florida.
