Per Karlsson

Per Karlsson has extensive experience in program design, fundraising, and disaster risk reduction. Per started their career in 2001 as a Miljöinspektör at Halmstad kommun, where they enforced environmental legislation and supervised companies involved in quarrying and chemical industries. In 2002, they became a Bilateral Associate Expert at Sida, working on monitoring, evaluation, and assessment of program activities in agriculture and livestock.

From 2006 to 2008, Per worked as an Assistant Programme Coordinator at the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, responsible for the agency's Rwanda desk and securing funding for a cooperation program with China's State Environmental Protection Agency.

In 2008 and 2009, they joined the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies as a Relief Delegate and Disaster Risk Reduction Delegate, coordinating relief operations and supporting national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies in Southeast Asia.

Since 2009, Per has been involved with the African Wildlife Foundation, starting as a Program Design Officer for Eastern Africa and progressing to Program Design Manager, Senior Program Design Manager, and currently Director Program Design. In these roles, they have been responsible for generating funding, managing donor relationships, and preparing complex proposals for AWF's programs in Africa. Per has also provided analytical and technical support to field teams and acted as a specialist source of knowledge on donor opportunities.
