AfrikaBurn

AfrikaBurn is a collective of individuals who congregate to manifest a medley of art, apparel, performances, Theme Camps, music, Mutant Vehicles, and a whole lot more. This cornucopia of creativity is birthed from a spirit of volunteerism and a culture of giving, based on the 11 Principles from Burning Man in the United States. The primary annual gathering of AfrikaBurn is located on Quaggafontein in the Tankwa Karoo - an expanse that straddles the Northern Cape and Western Cape Provinces of South Africa. It takes place towards the end of April and beginning of May each year. Fundamentally, AfrikaBurn's mission champions radical inclusivity towards creativity and personal development, forging a path that is open and welcoming to all. The cornerstone of our cultural worth will consistently be immediacy: we prioritise lived experiences over theory, moral connections above politics, survival over services, roles over jobs, ritual over symbolism, work over vested interests, and supporting participants over seeking sponsorship.
