Pernilla Thessén

Pernilla Thessén has a diverse and extensive work experience across various companies and roles. Starting in 2007, they worked as an Assistant at Micronic Mydata AB. Pernilla then served as a Junior Consultant at SWECO Environment, where they examined the implementation of remediation policies. Pernilla subsequently worked as an Analyst at the OECD, analyzing industrial biotechnology globally.

In 2011, they interned as a Strategic Marketing Analyst at Ericsson, focusing on digitization's societal effects. Pernilla also worked as a Research Assistant at MIT, evaluating synthetic biology policies.

In 2012, Pernilla joined Booz & Company as a Senior Consultant, gaining experience in strategy development and market analysis. Pernilla later joined Sweco, starting as a Consultant and progressing to CEO Trainee. During their time at Sweco, they played a key role in strategy, M&A, and market development. Pernilla also worked as a Market and Strategy Analyst, driving business development and analyzing market potential.

In 2017, Pernilla joined Stora Enso as a Business and Market Intelligence Analyst, responsible for market analysis and early-stage business development. Subsequently, they joined Tyréns AB as a Group Corporate Development Manager, supporting the CEO and executive management team in strategy execution and business development. Pernilla later became the EVP, Business Area Manager BAX and Head of Digital Solutions, leading Tyréns' digital business unit.

Currently, Pernilla Thessén works at AFRY. Pernilla started as the Head of Strategy and Innovation at AFRY X, responsible for defining the strategic direction and innovation agenda. Pernilla then became the Vice President Strategy, M&A and Head of Business Area Specialised Services, overseeing AFRY X's strategy, long-term growth plans, and M&A. Additionally, they lead the Business Area Specialised Services with 200 employees in Sweden and Finland, holding full P&L responsibility. Pernilla also briefly served as the Acting Head of inUse.

Pernilla Thessén holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, which they obtained from 2005 to 2008. Pernilla then pursued a Bachelor of Social Science degree in Political Science at Stockholm University from 2007 to 2009. Finally, they obtained a Master of Science degree in Technology and Policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they studied from 2009 to 2011.
