Risto Parkkila

Risto Parkkila is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in hydropower and structural design. Currently serving as the Chief Design Engineer of BU Hydro Power at AFRY since January 2021, Risto has previously held roles as a Special Expert at Sweco and Department Manager at Sweco Rakennetekniikka. Risto began a career in engineering as a Railway Bridge Design Consultant at VR Track Oy and has also worked as a Bridge Designer and Rock and Defence Structure Designer at Jaakko Poyry Consulting / JP-Suoraplan. Risto obtained a degree in Construction Technology with a focus on Structural Design from the University of Oulu, following foundational education at Rovaniemen keskustan lukio.
