James Hill has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. James started their career in 1998 as an Associate Producer at washingtonpost.com, where they were responsible for creating event records, updating sections, and posting original stories. From 1999 to 2007, James served as an Executive Manager at BET.com, overseeing creative production and network convergence. James then joined TVOne in 2007 as a Senior Director of Digital Media, responsible for marketing and editorial strategy. In 2015, James became an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland, teaching interactive journalism to students. James joined Nonprofit VOTE in 2018, holding various positions such as Associate Director of Communications and Director of Communications, where they managed digital communications, partnerships, and press relations. Most recently, in 2022, James became the Assistant Director of Communications at AFT.

James Hill attended Hampton University from 1992 to 1996, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Print Journalism. James then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Communications at Georgetown University from 1997 to 1999.
