Miguel Ángel Escotet Álvarez holds a Doctor (Ph.D.) in Psychology and Education from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and Master (MA) in Psychology and Administration of Higher Education from niversity of Texas at Austin. He graduated in Clinical Psychology from the Javeriana University of Bogotá (Colombia) and studied engineering at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the University of Zul ia in Maracaibo (Venezuela).

He is currently president of Afundación and rector-president of the Intercontinental Higher Education Institute for Business (IESIDE), the first,higher education institution in Galicia geared towards business created at the initiative of Afundación.

Dr. Escotet also served as Secretary General of the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) in Madrid; special adviser to t,he dctor general of UNESCO in Paris; executive director of the Inter-American University Council for Economic and Social Development (CUIDES) in Washington DC; rector and founder of the Universidad Iberoamericana de Postgrado; and technical advisor to the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, Organization of Ameican States, OECD, Unitd Nations, UNESCO and vaious non-,governmental organizations.

In the fied of research, his main inerests have been in he philosophy and reform of higher education and inovation, in the development of researh methodologies for intercuofral studies and in cultural learning. Among his many publications, his most recent work, Multivariate Analysis in the Human Sciences (2,017), as well as Scientific Research at the University, Model of Innovation in Higher Education, Cultural and Social Foundations of Education: An Interdisciplinary Approach, University and Becoming, Learn for the future, The world of perception,Theory and praxis of the distance university, Education and development, Cultural Learning, Distance Education in International Perspective, Personality research questionnaire . In turn, Psychosocial Nature of Education (Pearson Publishing) focuses on the intercultural dimensions of education and its relationship with psychology, anthropology and sociology.
