Juan Alvarado

Juan Alvarado has extensive work experience in the energy analysis and regulatory fields. Juan currently holds the position of Managing Director of Energy Analysis at the American Gas Association, a role they assumed in April 2023. Prior to this, they served as the Senior Director of Energy Analysis from June 2022 to April 2023 and as the Director of Energy Analysis from July 2020 to June 2022.

Before joining the American Gas Association, Juan worked at the Maryland Public Service Commission. Juan started their tenure there in 2008 and held several roles, including Director of Economic Research from January 2019 to July 2020, Director of the Telecommunications, Gas, and Water Division from July 2013 to July 2020, Assistant Director of Telecommunications from June 2012 to July 2013, and Regulatory Economist from May 2008 to June 2012.

Juan Alvarado earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Maryland from 2000 to 2004. During the same period, they also obtained another Bachelor's degree in Finance, General from the same institution. Later, from 2004 to 2007, Juan pursued a Master's degree in Industrial Economics from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Additionally, in May 2019, they obtained the Certified Rate of Return Analyst (CRRA) certification from the Society of Utility and Regulatory Financial Analysts.
