Mike Fitzpatrick

Principal Test Engineer at Agile Space Industries

Mike Fitzpatrick has a diverse range of work experience, starting with an internship as a Fluid Dynamics Engineer at Advanced Mobile Propulsion Test in 2017. There, they developed a physics-based model and utilized MATLAB to evaluate transient dynamics in propellant feed systems.

In the same year, they also worked at AGILE Space Industries, first as a Principal Test Engineer, responsible for planning and executing hot-fire test operations. Mike collaborated with propulsion engineers on instrumentation selection, test planning, and troubleshooting. Additionally, they were involved in the design of test facilities from requirements definition to decommissioning.

At AGILE Space Industries, Mike also held the role of Lead Altitude Engineer, where they designed components for ejector systems and utilized ANSYS Workbench for modeling mixed gas flows. Mike also conducted empirical characterizations of ejector performance.

Prior to their work in the engineering field, Mike worked as a Research Assistant at the Robotics Lab in Fort Lewis College, where they focused on localization and navigation of autonomous underwater vehicles. Mike presented data at various forums and analyzed physical and chemical environments. Mike also conducted research as a Research Assistant at the Thermal/Fluids Lab, where they constructed physical models and designed experiments to evaluate hydraulic characteristics.

Before entering the engineering field, Mike gained experience in the service and construction industries. Mike worked as a server at Dillon Dam Brewery and as a Construction Foreman at Classic Event Rental.

Overall, Mike Fitzpatrick's work experience showcases their expertise in fluid dynamics, testing, design, and research in various engineering fields.

Mike Fitzpatrick began their education at Colorado Mountain College, where they earned an Associate of Science degree in Biology in 2011. Mike then continued their studies at the same institution and completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Science in 2014. In 2015, they transferred to Fort Lewis College and pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, which they successfully obtained in 2017. In addition to their formal education, Mike also earned the certification of Engineer in Training from the State of Colorado in May 2017.
