Philippe Van den Broecke

Founding Partner at Agio

Philippe is the founding father of Agio. His main focus is on corporate law and on restructuring in particular. He is commended by Legal 500 as one of the best M&A lawyers in Belgium. Philippe has already assisted in numerous large and medium-sized acquisitions, in Belgium and for international parties.

In addition to M&A transactions, Philippe has also been able to sustainably rescue various companies in difficulties due to a judicious application of the judicial reorganization proceedings, combined with his pragmatic sense of entrepreneurship. In addition to a lot of other deals, Philippe has assisted in the restructuring of Veritas, Neckermann, Promethera and Switch.

He graduated from the University of Brussels as Master of Laws in 1993.

He immediately started in Brussels with Dierickx Eric where he developed the firm for 7 years and also became a partner. Subsequently, he worked for three years at Tiberghien Lawyers. As of 2001, Philippe was a partner at Bertouille & Vennoten, which merged with Lawfort (PWC Legal) in 2005. In 2006, Philippe founded the law firm Astrea together with some colleagues from Lawfort (PWC Legal).

On January 1, 2014, he started his own law firm under the name Agio Law. He is also co-founder of the Prinses Maxima Foundation which is dedicated to the fight against child cancer.

Philippe is registered at the bars of Brussels and Antwerp and speaks fluent French and English in addition to Dutch.
