Steven De Schrijver is a partner at Agio Legal and specializes in mergers and acquisitions, corporate law, IT and media, data protection and privacy, and outsourcing. He has almost 30 years of experience advising Belgian and international companies on mergers and acquisitions and has advised on numerous national and international transactions in, inter alia, the technology, IT, media, telecommunications and life sciences sectors.

His clients include some of the largest Belgian and foreign technology companies and companies in the innovative economy. Steven advises them on complex commercial contracts and projects in the field of new technologies, almost always with a cross-border element.

Steven has been involved in numerous projects related to IT, outsourcing, software and cloud applications, digital transformation, telecoms / media (establishment of the first mobile network in Belgium, the acquisition of the Flemish broadband cable operator and cable network, a joint venture to launch a new video on demand service) and data protection (DSGVO). In the process, he has developed a passion for artificial intelligence, robotics and drone technology.

He serves on the IBA Corporate and M&A Law Committee, the IBA Technology Law Committee, and ITechLaw. He is a past chair of IFCLA and is a member of ITechLaw's Tech M&A Committee. He is an honorary member of AIJA and the Belgian member of EuroITCounsel. He is the head of the editorial board of ‘Computerrecht’ (‘Computer Law’), the only Dutch-language IT law magazine in Belgium and the Netherlands.

In 2022, he received the Who's Who Legal Award as "Global Data Lawyer of the Year" for the seventh time and is considered a "Global Elite Thought Leader" in Data by Who's Who Legal. Several ranking agencies (Who's Who, Chambers, Legal 500 and IFLR) recommend Steven as an expert in the field of corporate and M&A and IT law. He has also received Lexology Client Choice Awards in Corporate Law and Data Protection Law.

Steven is known by his clients for giving 100% of himself to achieve his clients' desired goal. He is proactive, responsive, extremely accessible and pragmatic. Steven has an extensive network of foreign lawyers with whom he works closely on incoming and outgoing international transactions and projects.

Steven De Schrijver received his JD (magna cum laude) from the University of Antwerp (Belgium) in 1992 and received an LLM from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1993. He is a member of the Brussels Bar.
