Karen Warkentien has over 30 years of experience in regulatory affairs and compliance with federal, state, and international pesticide and environmental programs. Their most recent position is Director of Regulatory Affairs at AgroSpheres, where they are involved in transforming agriculture through bio-based solutions using RNA interference technology. Karen Warkentien completed their high school education at Miller Place High School from 1978 to 1982, earning a Regents with Honors Diploma. Karen then attended The George Washington University from 1982 to 1986, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree with a major in English (British Literature) and a minor in Chemistry. In 1994, they pursued further education at The Johns Hopkins University, specializing in Biotechnology, but the information regarding the degree obtained is not provided.
