Karen Warkentien

Karen Warkentien has over 30 years of experience in regulatory affairs and compliance with federal, state, and international pesticide and environmental programs. Their most recent position is Director of Regulatory Affairs at AgroSpheres, where they are involved in transforming agriculture through bio-based solutions using RNA interference technology. Prior to this, they served as Director of Regulatory Affairs at Certis USA for six years. Karen has also worked at Lewis & Harrison LLC as a Senior Associate, providing regulatory services and representation to companies in the pesticide industry. Karen has held various roles in regulatory affairs at Compliance Services International, BASF, W.R. Grace & Co./Grace Biopesticides/Thermo Trilogy Corporation (now Certis USA LLC), Stewart Pesticide Registration Associates, Jellinek, Schwartz, Connolly & Freshman, Makhteshim-Agan (America) Inc. (now Adama), and the US EPA. Karen's expertise includes obtaining and maintaining pesticide registrations, conducting regulatory consulting, and managing global pesticide registrations for both biochemical and microbial active ingredients. Karen has extensive experience in data compensation, study costs, litigation support, and responses to enforcement actions. Additionally, Karen has contributed to exposure assessment and worker re-entry studies as an Environmental Protection Specialist at the US EPA.

Karen Warkentien completed their high school education at Miller Place High School from 1978 to 1982, earning a Regents with Honors Diploma. Karen then attended The George Washington University from 1982 to 1986, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree with a major in English (British Literature) and a minor in Chemistry. In 1994, they pursued further education at The Johns Hopkins University, specializing in Biotechnology, but the information regarding the degree obtained is not provided.
