Carlos Alzate

Carlos Alzate is the current General Manager of Colombia at AI Fund. Prior to this, they worked as a Research Scientist and Manager at IBM Research - Ireland from September 2018 to November 2019. Carlos has also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Research Foundation Flanders - FWO from October 2010 to January 2013 and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at K.U.Leuven from January 2005 to October 2010. Carlos's research focus is in the area of unsupervised and semi-supervised learning using kernel-based methods, particularly in the context of spectral clustering. Carlos has developed novel models incorporating sparsity, prior knowledge and side information, and hierarchical representations.

Carlos Alzate graduated with a Master's in Artificial Intelligence from KU Leuven and a Ph.D. in Engineering from KU Leuven. Carlos also has an engineering degree in electronics from Universidad Nacional de Colombia.

Their manager is Eva Wang, Partner, COO, and General Counsel. Carlos Alzate works with Linda Lee - Talent Partner, Bessie Wu - Director of Finance.
