Jen Masengarb is a seasoned architectural historian and executive leader with extensive experience in the architecture and urban design sectors. Currently serving as the Executive Director of AIA Chicago since April 2021, Masengarb previously held the position of Senior Project Leader at the Danish Architecture Center, where strategic initiatives were developed to enhance international visitor engagement at a new 32,000 square foot facility. A key figure in the Chicago Architecture Center for 18 years, Masengarb contributed significantly as Director of Interpretation and Research, curating exhibitions, lecturing, and authoring influential educational texts. Notable publications include "The Architecture Handbook," awarded the 2009 National Honor Award from the American Institute of Architects, along with "Schoolyards to Skylines." Masengarb has also shared expertise as a recurring host on Discovery Science Channel's "Impossible Engineering." Educational credentials include a Master of Architectural History in Historic Preservation from the University of Virginia and dual bachelor's degrees in Architecture and American History from the University of Detroit Mercy.

The American Institute of Architects Chicago (AIA Chicago) is the largest chapter of licensed architects, architectural interns, and allied professionals within AIA Illinois and the second largest AIA chapter in the country. AIA Chicago offers continuing education programs, lectures, award programs, specialized committees (such as Committee on the Environment, Interior Architecture, and Historic Resources), advocacy for architects, and information for consumers looking for an architect.
