Catherine Maddox Walton serves as Board Chair and Director at JF Maddox Foundation since January 2005. In addition, Catherine is an Instructional Facilitator at AIM Institute for Learning & Research and the Founder of Plus One Literacy, both roles starting in July 2022 and February 2021, respectively. Catherine previously worked as a Literacy Coordinator and Primary Classroom Instructor for the NYC Department of Education from August 2014 to July 2020 and as a Primary Classroom Instructor at Cabarrus County Schools from July 2003 to June 2013. Catherine holds a Master's degree in Literacy from Columbia University, a MAT in Education from Salem College, and a Bachelor's degree in English from Greensboro College.

The AIM Institute for Learning & Research is part of AIM, an education provider based in Conshohocken, Pa., that transforms and empowers lives through literacy. In partnership with AIM Academy, a 1-12th grade school for students with language-based learning differences, AIM Institute supports evidence-based literacy instruction for students and educators alike and seeks to bridge the gap between literacy research and classroom instruction. The organization's AIM PATHWAYS™ online professional development courses are created by educators in collaboration with top researchers. The courses, which are provided to individual educators and to partners including schools, school districts and state Departments of Education, focus on evidence-based best practices in literacy instruction and are aligned to IDA Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading.
