Mr. Arjun Malhotra serves as an Advisor of NextGen eSolutions Private Limited, Lycos Internet Limited and LumenData, Inc. Mr. Malhotra has been an Advisor at Ybrant Digital Limited since 1998. He founded Headstrong Services India Private Limited in 1998. He served as an Executive Advisor of Technology Crossover Ventures. He served as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Headstrong Corporation, where he led the turnaround and rejuvenation of that business. He served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Techspan.
In late 1998, he founded Techspan India Limited. He was a Co-Founder and Vice Chairman at the HCL group for 23 years. In 1996, he set up and ran the joint venture with Deluxe Corporation. He co-founded HCL Technologies Limited, The HCL Group from a six-person "garage operation" in 1975. He oversaw their operations and new initiatives. He went on to launch successful divisions in the sectors of computer-aided design, reprographics, finance and telecommunications. He took over HCL's US operation in 1989. In 1992, he ran the HCL-HP joint venture in India. He also consolidated and grew the HCL Australasia operations in Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand. He also headed operations in America and Asia Pacific.
He started his career as a Senior Management Trainee at DCM and was a Key Member of DCM Data Products that pioneered the digital electronics business.
He founded the Prof. G.S. Sanyal School of Telecommunications at IIT Kharagpur through personal endowment of Rs. 30 million.
He serves as the Chairman of Vision 2020. He served as the Chairman Emeritus and Director of Headstrong Inc. He serves as a Director of Lumis Partners and guides the team in investment evaluation, portfolio operations and overall strategy. He serves as a Member of Governing Board of Indian School of Business. He has been a Director of Entercoms, Inc since February 2013. He serves as a Member of the Advisory Board at DMI Finance Private Limited, Commerce Events Inc., IDG Ventures India and IDG Ventures India I LLC. He serves as a Director and Member of Advisory Board of IvyCap Ventures. He serves as a Co-Chair of the Pan-IIT Alumni Association. He serves as a Board Member at HealthATM India Pvt Ltd. He serves on the Board of Governors for institutions including the IIT Foundation of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur; Hyderabad; Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Shillong; IIM, Udaipur; Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (IIIT&M), Gwalior; and the Doon School, Dehradun. He served as a Trustee of The Indus Entrepreneurs. Mr. Malhotra was a Member of the Board of Governors of the Delhi College of Arts and Commerce. He serves as the Chairman of the Investment Committee at Solmark, Inc. He was declared Life Fellow of IIT Kharagpur in February 2003. The Jerusalem Fund of Aish HaTorah has honored Mr. Malhotra with the coveted Albert Einstein Technology Medal for 2001.
The Institution of Engineers (India), too, has named Mr. Malhotra an Eminent Engineering Personality. He is a pioneer of the Indian Information technology industry and has over 42 years of experience in the Technology and IT space with both private and public companies. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, India (FIETE). Mr. Malhotra was conferred on him a Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) by IIT Kharagpur in September 2012. He earned a Bachelor of Technology (Honors) in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Kharagpur in 1970 and received the Dr. B C Roy Gold Medal. Mr. Malhotra attended the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School in 1985. He is an alumnus of St. Xavier's College, Calcutta.
