Ashar Nazim

Ashar Nazim is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the financial services and technology sectors. As the Founder and Group CEO of Aion Digital since October 2017, Ashar has spearheaded initiatives to digitize banking operations for clients across the Middle East and Africa, aiming to serve 10 million customers. Additionally, as the Founder and Managing Director of Spire Tech since June 2019, Ashar is focused on developing the API economy in the region. Ashar's prior roles include serving as a Board Member at the Special Technology Zones Authority from January 2021 to July 2022, and as Partner and Global Head of Islamic Banking at EY from 2009 to 2017, where Ashar led the launch of new financial institutions in emerging markets. Experience also includes serving as Managing Partner at Islamic Capital Partners and a Senior Strategist at the Central Bank of Bahrain, alongside earlier roles in advisory and sales at EY and Circuit City.
