Shariq Nazim has a diverse and extensive work experience in the technology and banking industries. Shariq most recently worked at Aion Digital as the Chief Technology Officer starting in November 2017. Prior to that, they held the role of Head of Strategy & Digital Transformation at Gulf Bank from January 2015 to December 2017. At Gulf Bank, they were responsible for defining the IT strategy, leading IT governance and risk, and developing business architecture and IT operating models.
Before joining Gulf Bank, Shariq was at Ernst & Young, where they served as a Director from October 2012 to January 2015. In this role, they led the core banking and payments advisory solution within EMEIA, providing risk advisory and program assurance services. Shariq also held the position of Senior Manager from November 2010 to September 2012, and was responsible for leading the IT risk and assurance practice in Kuwait with a focus on banking technology.
Shariq's career began at Lloyds Banking Group as an IT Audit Manager from May 2007 to December 2007. Shariq then moved on to Habibsons Bank Limited, where they served as an IT Manager from January 2000 to May 2007.
Throughout their career, Shariq has demonstrated strong knowledge in banking technology, IT strategy, and digital transformation. Shariq has successfully led teams and delivered large-scale banking transformation projects. Shariq also has experience in IT governance, risk management, and business architecture.
Shariq Nazim has a diverse education history in the field of technology and finance. In 2001, they attended London South Bank University and obtained a Master's degree in Computer Systems and Networking, which they completed in 2003.
In 2017, Shariq enrolled in the Oxford FinTech Program at the University of Oxford, where they studied Digital technology. Shariq also pursued the FinTech Programme at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, during the same period.
In November 2017, Shariq received a certification in the Oxford Fintech Programme from The University of Oxford Saïd Business School.
