Melissa Schaeffer joined Air Products in June 2016 as vice president, chief audit executive. She is responsible for leading the company’s Audit team and audit activities.
Prior to joining Air Products, Ms. Schaeffer held the position of global director, Internal Audit, at Trinseo, a leading global materials company. In her role as global functional head of Internal Audit, Ms. Schaeffer was responsible for executing risk-based global internal audits, with quarterly reviews to the Audit Committee; executing proactive compliance monitoring activities; leading all internal investigations pertaining to potential fraud, regulatory or compliance-related infractions; and rolling out the Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance program. She was also responsible for the development, rollout and enablement of the global Enterprise Risk Management program.
Ms. Schaeffer was also employed for 10 years at Ernst & Young, where her responsibilities focused heavily on SOX, internal audit services, process transformation, supply chain, and fraud investigation. Prior to Ernst & Young, she was employed by Siemens, where she participated in a finance leadership development program.
Ms. Schaeffer holds a degree in finance and accounting from Indiana University and is a Certified Internal Auditor and Fraud Examiner.
