David Stout

Bioprocess Engineering Fellow at Air Protein

David Stout is currently the Director of Process Technologies at Air Protein, a position they have held since 2021. Prior to this, they were a Supervisor at the California Energy Commission from 2020 to 2021, where they managed the Industrial, Agricultural, and Water Unit that aimed to increase energy efficiency and achieve cost-effective de-carbonization of the industrial, agricultural, and water sectors. From 2004 to 2020, they were a Group Leader and Senior Chemical Engineer at SRI International's Biosciences Division, where they managed a team of chemical engineers focusing on chemical and bio-process development and chemical hardware systems. During their tenure at SRI, they served as principal investigator, task leader, project manager, and lead systems engineer on a broad spectrum of both government and commercial client sponsored research and development programs in areas such as energy and energy storage, advanced materials and coatings, and chemical and drug discovery.

David Stout attended UC Irvine from 1998 to 2003, where they earned two Bachelor of Science degrees, one in Chemical Engineering and one in Chemistry.
