Eric Armstrong

Chief Pilot at Airbus US Space & Defense

Eric Armstrong has a diverse work experience in the aviation industry. Eric is currently working as the Chief Pilot at Airbus U.S. Space & Defense, Inc. Prior to this, they held the position of UAS Assistant Chief Remote Pilot at UPS, where they played a key role in leading Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) technology advancements. Before that, Eric worked at GE Aviation as an Aviation Systems Engineer, where they evaluated and integrated autopilot systems and developed Ground Control Stations for unmanned aircraft systems. Eric also served as a Global Hawk Instructor Pilot at Northrop Grumman Corporation, instructing pilots on flying remotely-piloted aircraft and training them on UAS equipment and flight operations. Eric has extensive experience in the US Air Force, where they served as a Pilot, Instructor, and Evaluator for various aircraft, including the RQ-4 Global Hawk, KC-135, and T-3. Eric also served as an Acquisitions Program Manager, leading a multi-disciplinary team for two major aircraft engine acquisition programs. Additionally, Eric held leadership positions as the Detachment Commander for the RQ-4 Global Hawk program at Grand Forks AFB and as the Pacific Region Manager/UAV Instructor Pilot in the US Air Force.

Eric Armstrong has a Level II Program Manager Certification from Defense Acquisition University. Eric obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Mechanics from the United States Air Force Academy. Additionally, they hold a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business from the University of Phoenix. In terms of certifications, they have an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate obtained in March 2019, an FAA Part 61 Commercial Pilot Certificate obtained in October 1998, and an FAA Airplane, Multi-Engine Land certificate obtained in July 1996.
