Manager Aircraft Operations at Airbus US Space & Defense

Michael Hood has a diverse work experience in the aerospace industry. Micheal started their career in the United States Air Force as an Avionics Guidance and Control Specialist, where they operated and maintained avionics systems and analyzed equipment malfunctions. After leaving the Air Force, they joined L-3 Communications as a Quality Assurance/Team Lead, performing maintenance on UH-60 Blackhawks and operating avionics systems. Later, they moved to Northrop Grumman, where they held various roles, including Maintenance Lead, UAS Standardization Instructor Pilot, Flight Operations Manager, and Senior Field Engineer Flight Operations. In these positions, they supported operations, managed flight personnel, ensured safety and mission execution, and provided technical expertise for combat flight operations and UAS maintenance support. Currently, Michael is working at Airbus US Space & Defense, Inc. as the Manager of Aircraft Operations, where they are responsible for managing the operations of aircraft and providing support for payload development and integration using innovative technologies.

Micheal Hood completed their Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management from the University of Management and Technology between the years 2017 and 2019. Prior to this, they earned an Associate of Science degree in Military Technologies and Applied Sciences from the Community College of the Air Force, where they studied from 2001 to 2009. In 2003 and 2004, Micheal attended Georgia Military College-Valdosta Campus, but did not obtain a degree or field of study in that period. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained a Private Pilot certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration in June 2011 and an FCC Certification in July 2005.
