Derek Fleck

Derek Fleck has a diverse work background with experience in various industries and roles. Derek currently serves as the Director of Business Development (Defense & Intelligence) at Aireon LLC, where they are responsible for developing strategies to penetrate the national security market. Derek's previous experience includes working as a Management Consultant/Project Manager at Accenture for a brief period in 2022. From 2019 to 2022, they served as the Deputy Director of the Special Communications Office at the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). Prior to that, Derek held the role of Installation Manager in the US Navy from 2018 to 2019. Derek also has experience working at the Joint Staff, where they served as the J8, Capabilities & Acquisition Division, Deputy Div Chief from 2015 to 2018. At the Joint Staff, they led a team of senior portfolio managers and developed strategies for a multi-billion-dollar Naval Warfare portfolio. Derek's career began in 2009 when they worked as the Deputy Executive Assistant at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), where they managed strategic engagements and coordinated various aspects of international trips. Overall, Derek has a strong background in business development, project management, military operations, and strategic planning.

Derek Fleck earned their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Journalism from Northwestern University, completing their studies from 1991 to 1995. In 2001, they pursued further education at The George Washington University, earning a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Organizational Management, which they completed in 2003. Derek's educational journey continued in 2014 when they attended the Eisenhower School at National Defense University, obtaining a Master of Science (MS) degree in National Security and Resource Strategy in 2015.

Additionally, Derek has obtained several certifications throughout their career. In 2022, they completed the Business Analytics program offered by Kellogg Executive Education, acquiring a certification in that field. In the same year, they also became an Anaplan Certified Model Builder through Anaplan. In 2020, Derek obtained the Space Cadre certification from the US Navy.
