Katharina Lauer

Katharina Lauer has a diverse work experience in various positions and organizations. In 2023, they joined Airfinity Ltd as the Director for Data Partnerships and Strategy. Prior to that, from 2018 to 2023, they worked at ELIXIR, where they held multiple roles. Katharina served as the Senior Scientific Officer - Infectious Diseases, leading a portfolio of infectious diseases projects and positioning ELIXIR as a global leader in pathogen data management. Katharina was also involved in the BY-COVID project, focusing on open data sharing for COVID-19 and other infectious diseases. Additionally, they were a co-principal investigator for a project establishing SARS-CoV-2 variant surveillance pipelines. During their time at ELIXIR, they also held the position of External Relations: Senior Industry Officer, leading industry engagement and outreach campaigns. In 2018, they worked at EPOC as an Advisory Consultant and later became the Head of Training and Entrepreneurial Awareness/Interim Head of Operations. Prior to that, they served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Cambridge from 2016 to 2018. Katharina began their career in 2008 as an IT Technician in the IT-service department at the University of Graz.
