Duncan Leung

Duncan Leung is an experienced software engineer and product manager. In 2020, they took on the role of Lead, Frontend Engineering at Airvet, where they lead the Frontend (Web) Engineering and QA Team. Duncan has achieved key milestones such as launching real-time "Check-Ins" using Redis and server-sent events in Golang, writing CRUD API endpoints in Golang + PostgreSQL, and standardizing the frontend architecture on React + NextJS + Redux (RTK) + SWR.

Leung has also been the owner and author of their personal website, duncanleung.com, since 2017, where they regularly write technical articles primarily focused on JavaScript and web development.

From 2018-2020, Leung worked as a Software Engineer at AutoGravity, a fintech startup that was acquired by Daimler (Mercedes-Benz) Mobility Auto Group in September 2020.

From 2016-2018, Leung was a Frontend Engineer at iHerb Inc., where they co-led front end re-architecture from global jQuery into reusable Browserify modules, improved homepage TTI by 16%, and built reusable Sass mixins and partials to standardize product styles across teams.

Leung was a Product Manager and UI Designer at FabriQate from 2013-2016, where they delivered Ford's AutoShow projects, led product UX direction for Google Glass and Leap Motion gesture interactions, and managed delivery timelines with stakeholders and internal development teams.

Leung was a Product Manager and UI Designer at StoreHub from 2013-2016, where they prototyped StoreHub's tablet and desktop UI / UX and created assets for the iOS tablet app, created StoreHub's web, print, video sales and marketing collateral, and led customer support, customer implementation, and customer training.

From 2012-2013, Leung was a Product Manager and UI/UX Analyst at Jiepang.com, where they led UX consulting to localize Starwood Hotel's SPG loyalty mobile app for the Chinese market and delivered immersive mobile ad formats for luxury brands, including Starwood Hotels and Gucci.

In 2010, Leung was an Event Organizer for the G-Startup Competition at GWC Inc, where they designed and organized a full-day startup competition and entrepreneurship conference track, obtained sponsorships/prizes valued USD $35,000+ with Chinese and US incubators, and established partnerships with Plug and Play Tech Center, Innovation Works, Chinaccelerator, and Google Startup Clinic.

Finally, in 2011, Leung was a Mentor for NextGoals - 2011 Batch at Chinaccelerator, a startup accelerator that selects innovative companies each year and provides seed funding, as well as support and mentorship.

Duncan Leung obtained their Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Duncan began their studies in Data Science with Python at DataCamp in 2019. In 2021, they obtained a certification in Golang: Ultimate Syntax from Ardan Labs. In 2019, they obtained a certification in Intermediate Python for Data Science from DataCamp. In 2020, they obtained a certification in AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS).
