Brandon McNaughton

Brandon McNaughton has a diverse work experience in the fields of entrepreneurship and biomedical engineering. Brandon co-founded and served as the Chief Executive Officer of Akadeum Life Sciences, Inc., where they led the commercialization of a groundbreaking cell separation technology. Brandon also instructed entrepreneurship practicum at the University of Michigan Center for Entrepreneurship and served as an Entrepreneur in Residence for Detroit Innovate at Invest Detroit. Brandon has been actively involved in the University of Michigan ecosystem, holding positions such as Inventor in Residence and Innovator in Residence at the University of Michigan Health System and Venture Center, respectively. Prior to their entrepreneurial ventures, they founded Life Magnetics, Inc. to develop an in vitro diagnostic platform product for medical microbiology. Brandon's research background includes co-inventing and developing a sensor for detecting single bacterial cells and monitoring their growth during their time as an Assistant Research Scientist and Translational Research Scholar at the University of Michigan. Overall, Brandon has demonstrated expertise in entrepreneurship, technology commercialization, and biomedical research.

Brandon McNaughton began their education at Stockdale High School, where they attended from 1994 to 1998. After completing high school, they enrolled at Bakersfield College in 1999, where they focused on physics for a year. Subsequently, they transferred to California State University, Bakersfield in 2000, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics until 2002. Following the completion of their undergraduate studies, McNaughton entered the University of Michigan in 2002, where they pursued and obtained a PhD. in Applied Physics, concluding their studies in 2007.
