John Haakon Nustad has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. John Haakon started their career in the Royal Norwegian Navy as a Fenrik and 2. maskinist Ula klasse U-båt. John Haakon then worked as an Application Engineer at Kvaerner Energy, followed by roles as a Senior Engineer at General Electric - Nuovo Pignone and an Area Manager at General Electric Oil&Gas. At Siemens Oil & Gas, they served as a Sales Manager before joining Aker Clean Carbon as an Executive Vice President and Business Development Director. John Haakon continued their career at Aker Solutions, where they held various positions including SVP Business Development New Build, VP Engineering Consultancy Project Manager, Vice President Floaters, Head of Sales E&P Norway, Director, Director Business Development, EVP and Business Development Director, and Operational Lead Technology Center Mongstad.

John Haakon Nustad holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from HiST, Sør-Trøndelag University College, which they obtained from 1987 to 1990. John Haakon then attended the Royal Norwegian Navy Officer School from 1990 to 1992, where they received the degree of Second Lieutenant in Machinery Operation. Continuing their education, Nustad pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) from 1992 to 1994. John Haakon further enhanced their knowledge in the field of Thermodynamics at Cranfield University, achieving a Master of Science (MSc) degree in 1994-1995.
