Melissa Cizmorris

Melissa Cizmorris serves as a Partner in the Labor and Employment Group at Akerman LLP since June 2011, representing employers on labor-related matters including Title VII discrimination, wage actions under FLSA, and compliance with ADA and FMLA. Previously, Melissa held roles as Special Counsel and Associate within the firm, managing litigation related to mortgage servicing and drafting legal documents for various federal regulations. Prior experience includes serving as a Volunteer Clerk for Honorable Judge Dora Irizarry at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, and as a Legal Intern in multiple legal settings, including the New York Office of the Attorney General and the Kings County District Attorney's Office. Melissa earned a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and a B.A. from The University of Texas at Austin, specializing in Psychology and Italian.
