Paul Butler

Paul Butler is a Partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP since July 2005. Prior experience includes roles as Special Assistant to the Secretary of Defense at the United States Department of Defense from 2004 to 2005 and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations from 2002 to 2004. Paul served as an Assistant United States Attorney at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York between 1998 and 2002, and practiced as an Attorney at Cahill Gordon & Reindel from 1990 to 1998. Early career includes a law clerk position for Chief Judge Louis C. Bechtle from August 1988 to August 1990. Academic qualifications include a JD from St. John's University School of Law (1985-1988) and an MA in International Economics and Foreign Policy from The Johns Hopkins University (1996-1997).
