Hanif Kara OBE has extensive work experience in the field of architecture and design. Hanif is currently a Trustee at the Zaha Hadid Foundation. In 1996, they co-founded and became the Design Director of AKT II, where they remain a Director. Hanif has also served as an Advisor at the Aga Khan Development Network and as an Ambassador and Build Environment Expert at the Design Council. Additionally, Hanif Kara has been a Review Panel Member at NCCR Digital Fabrication, a Steering Group Member at The Glasgow School of Art, and a Design Group Panel Member at the National Infrastructure Commission. Hanif has held the position of Professor in Practice of Architectural Technology at Harvard Graduate School of Design since 2013. Hanif Kara has served on the Board of Trustees at The Architecture Foundation and was a Member of the Álvaro Siza Vieira Architecture Evaluation Panel at Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT).

Hanif Kara OBE graduated from Hartford Technical College in Cheshire, UK in 1982 with a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Civil Engineering. Hanif also attended The University of Salford, but no specific degree or field of study is provided for this period.
