Oztan Harmanci has a diverse and extensive work experience in the technology industry. Oztan is currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer at Akta Tech since January 2021, where they lead engineering teams in building cloud-native enterprise-grade video products for media companies. Prior to this, Oztan worked at Google from July 2016 to August 2020 as a Software Engineer in the Google Cloud Media Group. Oztan joined Google through the Anvato acquisition and focused on building video platform APIs and tools on the Google Cloud infrastructure. Before Google, Oztan spent eight years at Anvato as a Senior Research and Development Engineer. During this time, they played a crucial role in building Anvato's first video search product and led the team in developing the live video encoder, which was one of the first high-reliability software-based, hardware-agnostic encoders. Oztan also had experience as a Research Scientist at DoCoMo USA Labs, where they worked on video compression and peer-assisted video streaming technologies. Oztan completed internships at Microsoft Research in 2004 and 2005. Additionally, Oztan served as a Research Assistant at the University of Rochester from 2001 to 2006.
