Karen Mccarthy

Karen McCarthy is an Executive Director and the Head of Finance at Aktis Oncology. Karen’s experience spans a range of operational and finance roles in the life sciences and technology industries. Most recently Karen served as Senior Director of Financial Operations at Akcea Therapeutics. Prior to joining Akcea, Karen spent several years in fast-paced, early-stage companies, including Moderna Therapeutics, Flagship Pioneering and Tango Therapeutics, building financial systems and processes for scale. She previously served as a Board Member for Gaining Ground and her earlier career included positions at FTP Software, Progress Software, Kendall Square Research and Deloitte.

Karen earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting & Business Administration from the State University of New York at Oswego and her certification from the Massachusetts Board of Accountancy. In her free time, Karen enjoys fitness, cooking and traveling with her family, and long walks with her golden retriever.
