Richard Oldroyd

Richard Oldroyd is an experienced intellectual property professional with a strong background in patent law and chemical research. Currently serving as Senior IP Counsel at AkzoNobel since September 2019, Richard supports the Marine, Protective & Yacht Coatings and Powder Coatings businesses. Prior to this role, Richard worked as Senior Patent Counsel at Nouryon, providing IP support for specific product lines, and held similar positions within AkzoNobel and Brookes Batchellor LLP, focusing on patent application processes in various technical fields. Richard's career began at BP, where responsibilities spanned patent attorney roles and technical support, further complemented by postdoctoral research positions at The Royal Institution of Great Britain and the University of Southampton. Richard holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Southampton and a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from the University of Liverpool.
