Layan AlSharif is a Graduate Student Researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology since September 2024, previously serving as a Research Engineer at Saudi Aramco R&DC from August 2021 to August 2024, where Layan developed patent-protected technologies for enhanced asset integrity and led corrosion modeling projects. In addition to engineering work, Layan was a Professional Football Player for Al-Qadsiah Saudi Club during the SAFF Women’s Premier League and Women’s Cup in the 2023-2024 season. Earlier experience includes serving as an Undergraduate Researcher at Boston University, where Layan achieved a novel actuation method for soft robots, and holding leadership positions as President and Secretary of the Boston University Saudi Cultural Club, as well as participating in the Boston University Student Government. Layan holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, expected in May 2026, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University, completed in 2021.
