Brad Bird has a diverse work experience in the field of information security and compliance. Brad currently serves as the GRC Director for the Alabama Community College System since 2022. Prior to that, they worked at the Alabama Medicaid Agency from 2017 to 2022, first as the Chief Information Security Officer, where they provided leadership for the agency's information security direction and initiated the migration of security policies and procedures to a NIST RMF-based structure. Before that, they worked for the State of Alabama, holding multiple roles including Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Information Security Officer, IT Security Analyst, Network Security Engineer, and Systems Administrator. In their various roles, Brad translated state-level policies and standards into actionable security program processes, integrated risk management concepts into business practices, drafted state legislation based on federal requirements, and designed and implemented various IT solutions such as Active Directory, backup systems, and SAN architecture. Overall, Brad has a strong background in information security and a proven track record of implementing effective security measures.
Brad Bird attended John Patterson Technical College from 1999 to 2002, where they obtained an Associate's degree in Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications. Brad then pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Programming at American InterContinental University from 2004 to 2005. In addition to their formal education, Brad Bird has also obtained several certifications including Certified Ethical Hacker from EC-Council in August 2014, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)² in August 2017, and Certified Chief Information Security Officer from EC-Council in July 2015.
