David Bess Aia, Ncarb, Cefp

David Bess has extensive work experience in the field of architecture. David currently serves as the Regional Director of Facilities and Projects at the Alabama Community College System. In this role, they are responsible for overseeing regional facilities and managing various projects.

Prior to their current position, David worked at Auburn University where they held multiple roles. David initially joined as an Adjunct Professor in the College of Architecture Design and Construction. Later, they transitioned to the role of Campus Architect within the University Architect's Office. In this role, they played a key role in overseeing capital projects, managing project budgets, developing project schedules, and collaborating with the Facilities Management Department.

Before their tenure at Auburn University, David worked at PH&J Architects Inc. as an Architect. During their time there, they gained experience in managing various project types including K-12, higher education, judicial, industrial, emergency management, retail, religious, and athletic facilities. Their responsibilities included project and design team management, building design production, construction administration, communication and marketing, client relations, project schedule and budget management, and contract negotiating.

David Bess, AIA, NCARB, CEFP, has a Bachelor of Architecture degree in Architectural Design and Construction from Auburn University. David also holds a Master of Community Planning degree in City/Urban, Community, and Regional Planning from the same university.

In addition to their educational qualifications, David Bess has obtained several certifications. David is a Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP 2021) from the APPA Credentialing institution. David is also certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). Furthermore, David Bess is a Registered Architect in the State of Alabama, as recognized by the Alabama Board of Architects.
