Adun Akanni

Adun Akanni is the Co-Founder and COO at Alaffia Health. Adun has previous experience as an Onboarding Supervisor at Zeus Living and as the Director of Programs at MD Billing Pros.

At MD Billing Pros, Adun managed internal projects improving project planning, resource management, and time billing using MS Project, SharePoint and iEmployee for prototyping and process simplification. Adun defined project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility. Adun also coordinated internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects. In addition, they tracked project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals.

Under Adun's direction, concurrent projects for accounts receivables were completed for 10 accounts totaling $700,000 monthly charges. Adun was able to reduce the average days in A/R from 120 to 60-day bracket in a 3-month time period, leading to increased net collections from 65% to 80%. Adun also decreased the billing cycle turnaround time by 40% by implementing automation into the process.

Adun worked with the clearinghouse and the payers to ensure all claims were processed and received by the insurance companies in a timely manner. This led to a reduction in clearinghouse denials from 39% to 15% in a 6-month period of time. Adun also maintained quality levels by conducting random charge/coding audits and working with personnel to resolve problems.

Adun Akanni has a Master of Public Health (MPH) from New York Medical College in the field of health policy and management. Adun also has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in health administration and policy-public health. Adun is certified from the AAPC in CPC and CPB.
