Brendon Woods

Brendon Woods has over 27 years of experience in public defense, currently serving as the Chief Public Defender at the Alameda County Public Defender's Office since August 1996. In this role, Brendon leads a comprehensive team of 105 attorneys, 18 investigators, and 38 support staff, managing approximately 3,300 new cases monthly while advocating for indigent clients charged with crimes. Previous positions include Senior Assistant Public Defender, where Brendon supervised felony trial staff and trained attorneys, and Deputy Public Defender, overseeing the Fremont Branch office and its staff. Brendon also has experience as a law clerk for the Superior Court of California and the State of California Office of the State Public Defender. Brendon holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Francisco and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UC Santa Barbara.
