Alamogordo Public Schools
Sharla Schmidt-Baker, M.Ed, has an extensive background in education and counseling, currently serving as an Elementary School Counselor and Administrator for the central office special education department at Alamogordo Public Schools since August 2013. Previously, Sharla coordinated programs and supervised staff as a Coordinating Counselor at Cypress-Fairbanks ISD from August 1991 to December 2011, also providing counseling to secondary students during that time. Sharla's career commenced as an English Teacher at Cypress-Fairbanks ISD from August 1985 to May 1991. Educational qualifications include post-graduate studies in Educational Administration at Eastern New Mexico University, certification in School Counseling from Prairie View A&M University, a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Houston, and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Government from the same institution.
