Derek Chan

Derek Chan is an accomplished technology leader with extensive experience in software engineering and mobile technology. Currently serving as the Director of Software Engineering at Alaska Airlines since February 2012, Derek has successfully led multiple agile scrum teams in developing web and mobile solutions for flight operations, as well as spearheaded the Mobile Competency Center to enhance mobility initiatives within the organization. Previous roles include CIO at Beacon Athlete Tracking, where real-time tracking of athletes was facilitated, and Technical Lead at DataSphere Technologies Inc., focusing on mobile solutions. Derek's career began at Verizon Data Services, where diverse applications for both internal and external clients were developed. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Computer Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin, a Project Management certificate from UC Berkeley, and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
