System Engineer II at Alaska Communications

Matthew Mannhardt has a diverse background in the technology industry. Matthew currently works as a System Engineer II at Alaska Communications Systems, where they are responsible for maintaining and managing the networks and systems used by the Network Operations Center (NOC). Prior to this role, Matthew held various positions at the same company, including Network performance monitoring and Enterprise Business customer design and provisioning.

In 2002, Matthew worked as a Network Consultant at Mercury Data Group, Inc.

From 2000 to 2001, Matthew worked as a Network Engineer through Tara-Lu Corporation on an engineering team for Roadrunner Cable Internet. Matthew provided professional services through Digital Equipment Corporation and Compaq Professional Services.

In 1994, Matthew co-founded Internet Alaska, Inc. and served as the Vice President and Co-Founder. Matthew was responsible for managing a team of engineers and technical staff, growing the network and systems, and overseeing customer service and technical support teams. Matthew successfully grew the business to $10MM annual cash flow, 30k customers, and 80 full-time employees.

Prior to their involvement with Internet Alaska, Matthew worked at Arco Alaska, Inc. from 1985 to 1994. Matthew started as a Hardware Technician and then transitioned into Networking and Unix System Administration. With this experience, they left Arco Alaska to start the first independent Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Alaska.

Matthew began their career at Yukon Office Supply in 1982 as a Word Processor Tech.

Before joining the private sector, Matthew served in the US Army from 1978 to 1981. Matthew worked as an MP in the 1/43rd ADA, guarding nuclear ADA missiles. Matthew then transferred to the 56th MP company at Ft Richardson and achieved an honorable discharge. Matthew also represented the 172nd Infantry Brigade on the NRA match pistol team during a TDY to Ft Ord, CA.

Matthew Mannhardt completed their high school education and obtained a High School Diploma from Gateway Regional High School from 1976 to 1977. Matthew then pursued a certificate in MOS 95B10 - Military Police through the US Army Basic Training / AIT program in 1978. Following their military service, Matthew attended the University of Alaska Anchorage from 1981 to 1986 and earned an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Electronics Technology.
