Matt Carle

Trustee at Alaska Pacific University

Matt Carle is a lifelong Alaskan who grew up in the village of Hydaburg. He is an enrolled tribal member of the Central Council of the Tlingit and Haida Tribes of Alaska. Currently, Matt serves as the Director of Community Outreach for Sealaska Corporation where he is responsible for managing the company’s engagement with its shareholders and the communities within Southeast Alaska. Matt is a graduate of the University of Alaska in Fairbanks.

He spent 15 years working at Alyeska Pipeline Service Company supporting the organization in the areas of reputation management, crisis communications, stakeholder engagement and public relations activities. He held several leadership positions there, most notably as the Chief of Staff and the Alaska Native Program Director.

Matt is actively involved as a board member for several corporate and non-profit organizations including the Alaska Native Heritage Center, the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame and the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce. He serves on the Alaska Native Science and Engineering Program Advisory Council and is a member of the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Alaska Native Advisory Council.

Matt enthusiastically volunteers his time to support his kids’ sports activities and dedicates his time to promote education opportunities for Alaska Native students.

The Alaska Journal of Commerce named him a 2015 Top 40 Under 40 recipient and he was also recognized by the National Center for the American Indian Enterprise Development’s 2015 “Native American 40 Under 40” Award. Matt served on Governor Bill Walker’s Transition Team in November 2014.
